Orrefors Ariel glass vase, Ohrstrom
A very fine piece of Orrefors Ariel Glass Vase, "The Girl and the Dove" designed by Edvin Ohstrom. Heavy walled crystal vase, the clear glass internally decorated in the Ariel technique in dark red, circa 1957. Underside incised Orrefors/Ariel 412F E Ohstrom The design "Flickan and Duvan" was introduced in 1937 6 1/4" x 5"w. illustrated in Fifties Glass, Pina, P. 110. Karl Edvin Ohstrom designed glass at Orrefors for 2 months each year from 1936 - 1958.
He developed the Ariel techinque at Orrefors in 1937, with Lindstrand and Berqkvist, in which controlled air bubbles produce the design (trapped in cut-out patterns between layers of thick glass)

Orrefors: Palmqvist Kraka Vase
Orrefors Kraka vase designed by Sven Palmqvist in 1954.
Kraka is made in Graal technique of point decorating.
It has a clear crystal base and of clear crystal internally decorated in the Kraka or fishnet pattern, in which a blue net surrounds amber diamonds, each with a single trapped air bubble. This vase measures 6" h. x 2 1/2" w. It is signed Orrefors Kraka Nr 349 Sven Palmqvist A similar vase is illustrated in Fifties Glass, Pina, P. 115
